The Looking Like a Library Edition

Media Center Remodel Update

The D211 construction crew has made tremendous progress on our Media Center. Most of the walls have been framed, door and window frames have been installed, and 60% of the electrical work is completed. Here are some pictures of the progress:

This first picture is a general view of the Media Center. Notice the metal studs running down the wooden posts in the center of the Great Room. These posts will be “wrapped” with stone work at the bottom, and they will become work/charging stations for students.

The second picture shows the style of windows that will be found throughout the Media Center. These windows will have a shaded tint on them that enhances the colors of the walls. Although we were merely going for a Prairie-style look, we found that this style resembles the multi-window style found in the library circa 1963.

The last picture shows a conference room that is located where the circulation desk used to be near the old entrance to the Media Center. Students and staff will be able to check out this conference room for group projects and study sessions.
